AMA - Perlentaucher
360° Dance Film and Live Performance in Berlin/Tokyo
This collaboration with the japanese Choregrapher Yoriko Maeno was a long term contamporary project. Starting in 2020 it evolved over four years. Besides performances in Germany and Japan a 360° Dance Film was created.
AMA, a woman diver, dives into the ocean and takes sea shells, without any equipment like Aqua Lung. This dance theater “AMA-Perlentaucherin” focuses on the present and history of AMA culture, which exists for 3000 years only in the Far east region. As research of it, Yoriko visited a small village in Japan, where many AMAs are still living and working.
This work asks urgent questions to us, who live in this time when climate change and oceanic pollution become big issues in the world. It addresses the relationship between Nature and Humans and the joy of our lives with fluid movements of dancers, video installation, and music by Thorsten, a german composer who works as a director of Tangerine Dream.
